Nishikori Kei and the gong were in cahoots, when they ganged up on Andy Murray. It would have had to be a pre-planned gang related atrocity against Murray. In the quarterfinals while Nishikori distracted Murray with a game of tennis the gogn snuck in and with it loud GONG-vocals over the loudspeakers interrupted play and this we suspect is what caused Murray to lose the match.
Let’s dig deeper into what was going on. Murray had a break point and had already won two sets. Seemed like good ole Murray was set as the tennis gods poured love mixed with invisible honey all over him as he played with his racket.
But, little did Murray know and suspect the power of the big G – yes that’s correct the GONG. While Nishikori kept Murray busy the Gong snuck in and when it sounded over the loudspeaker Murray saw the Godly honey turn to invisible charcoal and as a result Murray lost seven straight games. The fifth set he lost 7-5. Prior to that in the fourth set he lost 5 straight games towards the end of the fourth set and tied the match at two sets apiece.
The Ump did call a let and asked for the point to be replayed. You would have thought that a GONG would not be able to disrupt the concentration of a Pro player but, this was no ordinary Gong. Even a seasoned player like Murray couldn’t handle the wrath of the bigG and from the point where Murray threw his hands up in disgust at the bigG, Murray never recovered and hence lost.
